Yarn Smackdown Part 3

Well after sitting up most of the night, I finished my hat of death that is now winging it's way to America. It was a good pattern, although the 6 inches of ribbing was a bit of a pain before the relief of the pattern. I hate ribbing and the Addi 16" circular that I was using made my left little finger really ache - I think that the needle is too short and my finger didn't have anything to grip, usually it holds onto the needle (and now I sound like I have some sort of prehensile fingers that are just looking to latch onto things). I changed to a longer circular so I could magic loop the crown and things worked out much better as the needle itself was longer so that might be how I'll do the next one.

The basic hat pattern is based on a WW2 watch cap and there were several options for the 6 stitch repeat. Some pennant, some cables, gull stiches - which I think about doing but since my printer was playing up I couldn't print out the pattern and didn't feel up to knitting in front of the computer. My hat is knitted in Debbie Bliss Merino Aran and it works really well with this design, the spirals of the pattern are nicely raised, although I did find it a bit tiring on the ol' fingers.
