Gearing up for Yarn Smackdown

I'm sort of getting excited about the next couple of days as I am taking part in Yarn Smackdown - it's a sort of death by knitting thing where I will be teamed with a partner and then we knit a pre-arranged pattern and who ever finishes first and gets it to their opponant first is that winner. They they go through to the next round and so on and so on until there is a single winner.

All I know so far is that it's going to be a hat pattern and that aran weight wool with be involved and that's it. I don't know who my match is - hopefully later today, nor where they are in the world. I'm going to be knitting with Debbie Bliss Merino Aran in a lovely dark blue/purple colour that I picked up at Up Country a couple of week back. It was in the sale so got 4 balls for I think a tenner which is good value I think.
